Stikes against Reliance or the customers!!

This saturday, there was a statewide strike by the merchants association of Kerala. They were protesting against the arrival of big corporate giants like Reliance in to retail sector. Now why is all the hue and cry? Right now, the choice for the customers in Kerala is pretty bleak. You go to a store and ask for some thing, you will get what the store keeper wants to give you. And what is the criteria he is basing this on. The stuff with the highest margin. That is his sole criteria for the most part. They do not provide any quality stuff. You try to ask for a mango juice for example. There are 100% juice products like Maaza, Minute Maid etc. available in the market. But you will never see them at these stores. They will bring out some stuff with never heard of names which are artificially made. The reason is more commission. They are actually over charging the 3 crore people of Kerala. When you go to a big store like Reliance, you get a wide choice of items. Besides, their price is less than the MRP. That is even after them paying the tax. None of the small stores pay tax. That is the reason why they were able to go to Delhi on flight to protest. If the communist party is with the ordinary people of the state they should be in favor of Reliance and Walmart and all. Walmart sells shirts in US stores from as low as $3, which is the equivalent of Rs. 120. Now the funnier part of the story is that these shirts are made in India. And they are wrinkle free. You will not find that quality stuff in India for even Rs. 600. That shows you the need of more Walmarts and Reliances here.
